Eagles!

Channel InnThrough the good offices of some friends, I have made arrangements for Eagles to stay at the Channel Inn in DC. That is where I stay when my business is in downtown DC, as it most certainly will be on 9/11 and 9/12!

Check out the hotel at www.channelinn.com. You will see that it is right on the Potomac River and is but a short walk to the Metro. It is within walking distance to the Capitol and the National Mall (if you're feeling frisky!), and there are great restaurants both within the Channel Inn and nearby (including Phillips Seafood Restaurant). It's a choice location in all respects. An added plus is that the hotel has free parking for guests.

The price is $110.00 PER ROOM for Eagles (regularly $169.00). For reservations, contact the hotel directly and mention that you have the Eagle rate for anytime during the weekend. I'm staying Thu-Sun.

If you make a reservation, please notify me by e-mail; I'm keeping track of the 75 rooms we've been allotted at that price.

See you on 9/11 and 9/12!

9/12 in DC

I just found Gathering of Eagles, and joined.

It would be so very wonderful if any of you Eagles could be in DC on Sept. 11 and/or 12th!  You may already know that thousands of the Tea Party and 9/12 Project people, and many other Americans concerned with where our country is headed will be there, and we would all love to show our appreciation to our American soldiers!  You are the reason our country is a free nation, and we owe you so much more than our gratitude!  There is an agenda of events at www.912dc.org/agenda.  Please try to come!

"America Supports You" no longer supports the Freedom March?
For the past several years, I have participated in a "National Freedom March," on or near the anniversary of the September 11th attack on the Pentagon.  These marches either began or ended at the Pentagon, and had many corporate sponsors, but the main sponsor was an organization called "America Supports You," which was actually part of the DoD.
Since the memorial to the Pentagon attack has just been completed, I went searching for details concerning this year's march.  I found this message (after much searching):

"UPDATE:
America Supports You communicates citizen support to troops and their families. All ASY information now may be found in the 'Support for our Troops' and 'Community Relations News & Headlines' sections."

In other words, the DoD has decided that this show of support for our troops is no longer needed!  So I guess we must show our troops fighting and dying in Afghanistan our support by some other method.

Hotel for 9/12

Larry,

I will be flying into DC on Sep 11 to attend the 9/12 event. I called The Channel Inn this morning to make reservations for 9/11 and 9/12. When I asked for the Gathering of Eagles $110 daily rate.  The reservations clerk told me that she did not have any group rate available for a group under that name.

Is there a secret codeword/password needed in order to obtain the group rate?

Please advise. Should I check on the Holiday Inn, Ballston?

Regards

Walt:

I had no problem.  I told the person making the reservation that I was with the Gathering of Eagles and we had a rate of $110 for the weekend and they set me right up.  I had checked with the HI in Balliston and they had no rate set up for us.   Staying in DC, I had to make arrangements for the safekeeping of my weapons until I head out Sunday.

Hotel for 9/12

Spook,

Thanks for your timely response and post. I called the hotel again and made my reservations this afternoon. Scheduled to arrive late morning. Apparently the rooms are not listed as a block, but are available at the discounted rate...confusion ensues at the hotel. LOL The clerk did mention that they had been getting  "a lot of calls from Eagles".

Looking forward to seeing a bunch of Eagles yet again.

SazzySuz,

Count me in. I'm sure that I will be in need of refreshment and drinks after the afternoon stumbling around on my cane. LOL. What the hell. See you there.

I plan on Walter Reed Friday with a new provision of "morale supplies" in the form of good cigars for the Young Warriors.
