A Letter From The Front
Posted On: March 8, 2007 at 2:14 PM By: Redhead Infidel
Ma'am,

I am Spc. Beecher, Michael with the United States Army (Active). I’m with the 1st Stryker Brigade, Arrowhead. I’m waiting for my return to Ft. Lewis when my fellow soldiers get here. I was there in the U.S. last year when we were loading our trucks at the dock. We had soda cans, piss bottles, trash and rocks thrown at us, as if we don’t get enough of it here now.

I was in Mosul and now for the past several months in Baghdad. I’m with the 18th Combat Engineers. I conduct IED sweeps, raids, and demolition work such as the destruction of buildings that the enemy occupies. My time spent when things got bad are not pleasing but I love doing it more and more every time cause I love my country and my family by that I mean the people of the U.S.A., like yourself, who won’t leave our side.

I’m so pleased to have gotten this site to those with my same point of view. My goal in life is not to better myself or get rich quick but to make a change, a difference while serving my time in the military. I will go to school to do what ever is necessary in order for me to get to D.C. so that I can make a difference there and set things right.

Lots of citizens of this country have lost the passion of justice, freedom and above all honor as an American. Our country has changed a lot since its younger years of glory. The protesters, the ones against the troops, against our love for this great nation that wants to pursue happiness and protection for all mankind. I want to make this country be able to stand up as a whole like it once was and be able to stand and say "I will not lay down... I will not go quietly... we can survive... I will protect... I will not falter in my honor".

Ma'am, I am a patriot and I want to set this country straight the way she once was and I believe that is what you and the supporters want. Now I will see to the greatest extent that my job is done, for all of you. I didn’t join for the money or the benefits, I joined because I want my kids and everyone's kids to see this great country in all of her honor and pride as she once was.

I’m not putting down our leadership but there are areas up high that certain others have lacked in. This country wasn’t started from money, or power, but from heart ... the same simple reason I’m continuing the great fight, so everyone around us can live in a peaceful state. I want to know where all of our forefathers have gone, they seem to have vanished as views changed when others didn’t want to help the defenseless; didn’t want to stand up and help construct a brighter future for others when they came to our us seeking help.

It's not easy helping the people here who want a better place for themselves like we have had. But since the "anti-war" protests started, they're all about "forget-everyone-else-just-focus-on-us" routine, we slipped and slipped big time.

No one wants war, no one, not even us, the soldiers. Things must be done in order to see that freedom - and not evil - succeeds. There are times when we have to see it to the end, to my end, to continue one's way of life.

We can do this ... we can do this. Upon my return, I will stand up ... will all of you stand up with me?

Spc. Beecher "Sappers Forward"

Make us proud at the wall!

Spc. Beecher, thank you to you and your fellow servicemembers. As a history teacher, I try to impart to my students some sense of the remarkable nation they have inherited thanks to those who came before them fulfilling their duty with honor and courage. People like you continue that tradition of promoting freedom. I make an effort to help students learn to question authority and take a role in civic action without lapsing into the lazy cynicism and even hatefulness so popular today. I plan to be in D.C.on March 17, carrying the flag given to our family in honor of my father, a WWII veteran who died this December. Hopefully, my son will be with me.

Spc. Beecher; Thank GOD there are men and women such as yourself!! You make me proud to be an American and a VET (note the caps). Thank you and your family for your sacrifice. I am a 3 tour Viet VET and my son has had tours in Kosovo, Iraq, and soon Afganistan. Believe me son, nobody will ever throw anything at you and your brother and sisters-in-arms in my presence or any of the people who will be with me and my wife in DC on the 17th... that is an absolute!! My generation got it's share of that kind of treatment from "the elite class" and we've had enough! I pray that the 17th is just the start of a backlash against these headline grabbing idiots and that the people who really care about this country and our military will take the time to make their voices heard and continue to do so untill the world knows we've had enough!! We are no longer respected in the world and the only way to gain this respect(or fear..I don't care which)is for the "real Americans, such as you, to stand together..We all need to remember.."WE STAND FOR SOMETHING OR WE FALL FOR EVERYTHING!" I have been waiting for this day. I know many concerned Americans have been also hoping for a sign of life and vitality from the Democratic leadership in Congress to limit the policy errors in Iraq, and redeploy the soldiers. Today it happened.

House Democratic leaders, led by House Speaker Pelosi, announced a bold plan to pull U.S. troops out of Iraq by the fall of 2008. The Iraq withdrawal deadline would be attached to legislation providing nearly $100 billion requested by the Bush administration for the Iraq and Afghanistan campaigns. The fact should not be lost on anyone that the Iraq War has cost us dearly in the real fight against terrorism that should be centered in part in Afghanistan.

One of my favorite members of Congress, Representative Dave Obey from Wisconsin, will play a major role in this fight, as he is the chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. He will be placing funds through the legislative process in such a way that the troops can be redeployed, and additional resources can be directed to fight Al Qaeda.

Make no mistake about the difficulty in getting this bill passed. There will be a strong conservative right-wing blitz to distort and manipulate the facts. There will be those feckless Democrats in the House that get scared from a pee shiver and ice-cream freeze brain, let alone taking a tough vote and doing the right thing for America. In other words the citizens in the nation have to be as much engaged in the process to insure passage of the bill, as those who actually drafted the legislation.

The need for such a bill has been clear to concerned and thinking Americans for many months. The plan would require President Bush to certify by July 1 and again by Oct. 1 that Iraq is making progress toward defending itself and building a new nation. Assuming that the Iraqi government does meet those "benchmarks," American troops would have no combat role in Iraq by Sept. 1, 2008. If Iraq does not meet either of the deadlines, troop withdrawals would begin immediately and be completed in six months.

Those in Congress who denounce this plan and work for its defeat should be required to attend every funeral for all American soldiers killed in Iraq due to their thoughtless and reckless foreign policy. Let the bloodshed from the soldiers be witnessed by those who wish to continue the war.

Okay, Deke, as long as you promise to attend every funeral for every freedom-loving person slaughtered by terrorists. You know, like what happened after Congress cut off our troops in Vietnam. For folks who claim to be concerned about Iraqi children, you certainly don't seem to give a damn about 'em.

As George Santayana said, "Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it."

Fortunately there are enough of us able to remember AND think for ourselves. And we also know what the word "Veto" means.

I love the people of this nation all those that are willing to "Stand Up" if they would be called on. Your bravery and honor from your past service even your tribute to the wall is more then I can explain. This is our country our red, white and blue. If there would be another safe guard when I get home I will and would be honored to stand beside all of you. On March 17th I will stand taller then all others. We should remember that 654,008 and counting others will be with you along that wall:

Colonal War-1754-1763 (Unknown) American Revolutionary War-1775-1783 (4,435 souls) The War of 1812-1812-1215 (2,260 souls) Mexican-American War-1846-1948 (1,733 souls) American Civil War-1861-1865 (214,938 souls) Spanish-American War-1898-1902 (385 souls) World War I-1914-1902 (53,402 souls) World War II-1939-1945 (291,557 souls) Korean War-1950-1953 (33,741 souls) Vietnam War-1964-1975 (58,000 souls) Desert Storm-1991 (147 souls) Somalian Conflict-1992-1994 (19 souls) Iraq/Afghanistan War-2001-present (over 3,000 souls)

We are here cause of them, we stand at the wall for them. For all Vets out there I thank you, I'm here cause of you. So no matter how many "anti-war" protesters show there will be 654,008 brave souls with you. You have there courage, there honor, there ability to stand tall without fear. To me when I look at the American flag and think of all those who gave all I think of the white as the power of bravery they had from there love for there country, the red for the blood that they gave in order to see our peace and the stars with the blue background for the heavens that they watch over us still to this day. They are with you and the rest of us here are with you. We are honored to be fighting for you. We were told that we can make a difference. Your seeking that difference now. Giving up your time from home and your family to go hundreds even thousands of miles from home is making that difference. A part of me will be with you on that day, cause of you I'm proud to say I'm an American!

The 'DEKERIVERS' entry in this comments topic is exactly the kind of disrepect some people have for our soldiers. We are talking here about standing up for our military, for those that have fallen, for those that survived, for those on the front line now, irregardless of our political opinons. This forum/comment section is about showing our support, admiration, and appreciation, not a soap box for your political viewpoints, and by you doing so, is an insult. And you don't even have the courage to indentify yourself... so typical.

Son, andI use the term lovingly and respectfully. I am a former Jarhead who lived through the spitting and decension of another generation. I lost a surrogate son in Fallujah in '04. Keep your faith son! Continue to hope for dragons and that you can make a differance. This is the ONLY way you will. Remember that Democracy isn't how many people you killed, but how many you saved. how many you improved their lives by doing what you'd probably pay the Army for the opportunity to do. I know I would have paid the Corps to serve as I did. I still live with the injuries and scar tissue and I love every damned one of them. Because they are as real as the spirit you posses and maintain. Thank GOD the young retain passion! I fear the "Derickivers" have too strong a toe hold and have sold us too far down the river though. Unless some serious standing is done, Patriotic and not political........well, it just ain't gonna be purty! My apologies lad for leaving things in such a sorry state for you kids. The Gathering is only a small statement compared to what our soldiers do for us everyday. I can only hope that we do make our soldiers proud and help return the resolve, strength and pride our soldiers should have within themselves.

It is because of our soldiers (past, present and future) that we can show the world that they should be as proud of our men and women in uniform as we are. It is all of you that deserve our Thank Yous, love and respect.

Thank you and never forget that we really do love and respect all of you that do your best to protect our freedoms as well as help those in need.

You did all that you could. The state of our country is not anything that our past soldiers have done, it is not our soldiers fault, you guys do the best you can with the job and equipment given.

It is the government with their views of save money let the world around us die that caused this world to go to hell.

We can only pray that we can make a difference to the next generation and see that our country doesn't stay on the down-ward spirl course it has taken.

At least we try, it is the best we can do with all the opposition that we have.

Spc. Beecher - Chin up, shoulders back, stand tall...and God Bless those who protect the Wall.

My nephew, Lenny Watson, USMC IRAQ is alive and well at Camp Pendelton, CA. where he awaits his 12th operation to help rebuild his once handsome face, blown half off by an IED last year when he was on a Convoy near Bagdad.

We're a long line of VETERANS who have seen combat, Dad in the Pacific Theater- USN and my Uncle the Battle of the Bulge in WWII USARMY, my Daughter, USN Corpsman in Desert Storm, my Son USN in the Counter Terrorism campaign in Lybia, my husband, USARMY Vietnam/Korea just to name a few of our family members who have stood where you stand, and know what you know, and who have seen what you see. Among them are Purple Hearts and even a Silver Star. All Gave Some and Some Gave All.

No one hates WAR more than a VETERAN. No one, except those who have been there, or who have served, knows the Question...why him/her and not me?

No one knows, except Veterans and their Families...that it is THE SOLDIER...whose unselfish SERVICE to our country in hundreds of lonely outposts...is ALL THAT STANDS BETWEEN THE LIFE AND DEATH OF AMERICA itself.

If they KNEW that, we would not have WALTER REED and thousands of other decaying Veterans Hospitals. If they KNEW that, SOLDIERS would not be eligible for Food Stamps. If they KNEW that, SOLDIERS would not lack for THE BEST equipment, and protective armor, facilities and support for their FAMILIES when they fall.

If they KNEW that, every VETERAN of EVERY WAR could rest assured that the precious monuments our Country has erected to honor the SOLDIER...would be safe from harm.

If they KNEW that, it would not be 'time' for all your BROTHERS and SISTERS to STAND together to REMIND THEM of the FACT that it is the SOLDIER who provides the most precious 'gift' of all...FREEDOM.

Your COMRADE in ARMS, Sgt. Lenny Watson, currently undergoing yet another operation...this time to take bone from his ribs to replace his jawbone does not cry and beg our country to take you from the field of battle...even KNOWING first hand the COST OF WAR.

He seeks to return to IRAQ to HELP YOU FINISH THIS WAR in the way of the SOLDIER...VICTORIOUS.

He seeks to COMPLETE the MISSON for those THE MEMORIALS HONOR...and FOR THOSE who KNOW that "AMERICA STILL STANDS" ONLY because of the HEART, AND BLOOD, AND GRIT, AND TEARS, and the HONOR that resides in EVERY ONE OF YOU who STANDS THE WATCH, ever vigilant.

My own Son, who had already SERVED, along with AMERICA'S BEST AND BRIGHTEST SOLDIERS from every special ops unit in every military service...who were First in Line to become Federal Air Marshalls following 9/11, because they wanted to MAKE A DIFFERENCE, JUST LIKE YOU.

The ENEMY never rests, never sleeps, and is now conditioned from birth to HATE the Western Civilized way of life with the zeal of crusaders.

My Generation, the Boomer SOLDIERS who served in VIETNAM have a special greeting they give each other when they meet. It is a greeting they were denied from an ungrateful Nation, except for the SOLDIERS who served before them. VICTORY was snatched from their hands by THOSE who put political considerations above THE BEST INTERESTS OF OUR SOLDIERS, AND OUR COUNTRY.

Sometimes I think our VIETNAM VETERANS suffer loss of self esteem because of it. Maybe that is why...today...they are STANDING TOGETHER with YOU AND YOUR GENERATION OF SOLDIERS serving not only in IRAQ, but all over the globe, to say ENOUGH of this IGNORANCE.

Like the PHOENIX RISING in all it's DUE GLORY...they RISE in behalf of those who came before them, those who came after them, and those who are yet to come who have DUG DEEP inside themselves and answered our Country's CALL TO ARMS.

There's not a lot of HONOR in the world anymore, I fear...but where it exists most often, is in the hearts, and the minds, and in the very being of our VETERANS.

It is well past TIME, that our VETERANS of every era still living...STAND UP TO TAKE BACK AMERICA. To make themselves KNOWN to all who would dismiss them, and to all who would dare to spit upon, or vandalize the memorials and monuments in recognition of the BRAVE.

Too many seem to have forgotten that America...is the HOME OF THE BRAVE.

...and it is THESE BRAVE VETERANS who can turn things around for every AMERICAN VETERAN who comes after them, and AFTER YOU.

Take heart! No matter what you hear or what you see...countless MILLIONS of VETERANS and THEIR FAMILIES have your back, and we shall all experience a glorious day with every signature on the list, and every man, woman and child who STANDS in DC very soon.

THANK YOU, from the bottom of my old heart...for keeping AMERICA ALIVE. God Bless you and all who SERVE.

It is the SOLDIER, and the VETERANS of this Country...

...and now, TOGETHER, we are going to let the REST of our COUNTRY KNOW IT TOO. I am so proud to be a witness to this historic occasion.

EAGLES UP!

Spc Beecher: How proud I am that we have men such as you willing to serve this country and stand for us! This Gathering of Eagles is a great opportunity for me to be able to stand up for you and all of our military and show you WE DO CARE and we DO SUPPORT YOU all! I lived through the Vietnam years and watched as our soldiers returned home only to be spat upon etc. I will not sit idly by and watch this time. I will be, and I will stand proud!

After reading what my brother wrote, it really hits you. He really makes me proud, but really gets to me are the comment that everyone has put in. I am so very proud to make it known that he is my brother. It makes me feel good to see the support that he and all the other gets. I am glad he is coming home soon and pray for the ones that are staying or going over. Stay safe everyone and come home soon.

This morning when I watched the sun rise, it was different then all the others. In the mornings its all quiet a dead silence. All you notice is the slight wind breeze the blows across you face, the dogs barking in the city, the Mosque's singing there morning praise. This time after hearing from you and finding out that others are tired of this silence and that its time to set right what has gone wrong. This morning I felt warm, I heard your voice's, the strength from home sailed all the way across the ocean to me and I felt that I was no longer alone. Not alone in this war over here but no longer alone back home.

My promise is I will get to D.C. and with all that we know and have gone through we can correct the wrong that the protesters have created. They need to realize that they have there freedom and we have our freedom cause someone gave it to us with there time, there blood even there life. Like its said "Freedom isn't free, it comes with a price"

To have that freedom that you gave me is above all. I can only hope that with what do and the choices I make that I can return the favor to you, to your families and to this great nation. Cause of you will I can already see the honor that we are rebuilding in this country and driving these "Non-believers out".

Michael, not that I needed any convincing to attend, but you just cemented for me why I'm going. Not only to protect our memorials from potential vandalism, but even more importantly to show the young men and women like you that we truly do care and want to do more than pay lip service to your sacrifices. God bless!

Fellow Vets,

Remember the URINE, FECES, and SPITTLE showered upon us by our FELLOW AMERICANS! Now that most of them live comfortably on six figures and munch on brie and sip chardonnay while we scrap for a piece of cardboard to keep our bottoms comfortable at night consider that God's justice will prevail in the end.

Remember also the welcome from the generation of our fathers and uncles, the WW II "perfect greatest generation" who called us losers, cowards, and traitors. May they now be feeling the heat of God's justice- Eternally!

NEVER WILL ONE GENERATION OF VETERANS BETRAY ANOTHER!

Deke " Bite Me". OK that is out of the way. It will never get past the Senate if it does it will be vetoed. I am all for bringing our troops home.... From Germany, from the Sinai, and from every other peacekeeping mission. American troops are not blue bereted observers they are the finest warriors in the world. Want to fund American health care and retirement pull out of the UN and use the money we pay them to fund it. Can you imagine what 22 of the UN budget is. The next time someone is invaded or violates UN mandates send in the Army of Monaco or the French. The next time UN resolutions authorize force turn the Peruvians loose. And the last thing you need to do is bring up our fallen brothers and sisters. Grow some balls and muster up the strength to actually do something good. Study some history, no one ever got peace through weakness. Realize that once one country in the MiddleEast finds democracy the rest will have to follow or loose the economic edge as happened with the communist bloc. One man named Lech started the dominos falling that ended with the fall of the Berlin Wall. After we pull out of Iraq where do you want us to go Darfur...that makes sense(NOT!). I've got my CAR and a few Degrees from the School of Hard Knocks. I only have a high school education besides trade schools, But I know enough to go to the library, I know enough to actually study and read both sides of any topic before I debate it. I just wish all you whiners and defeatists could.

Spc Beecher,

As one of those "old farts" from Vietnam, I want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and you brothers and sisters in harms way. I'm thankful I was not there when those assholes were throwing things.if I was, i would be writing to you with a crayon as I would be somewhere where they wouldn't let me have anything sharp. I would be wearing an orange jumpsuit and making license plates. Gos bless you all and thank you for keeping us safe. Remember 9/11!

You know what Deke...you don't scare me, you don't scare any of us.

You don't know why do you?

You don't know why we do it. You don't know why we do what we do or what we did. Its not about politics or any of that shit, its about the man next to you. Even those who didn't serve in the military know what it's about because they were home waiting for there father, there son, there husband or brother...day after day not knowing if they were dead or alive. Do you know what it feels like to have that world wide AK-47 bearing down on you, did we jump down and run...HELL NO. We stood there and fought because its about the man next you, didn't matter if he was with you or was back home.

Maybe you should go to a library and read up on some of the wars and the men and women who were there, maybe you should listen to some of the interviews by those men and women, maybe YOU should just LISTEN just LISTEN to someone who was there and hear one of there stories when things got rough. Maybe you should listen to one of my stories like when you get an IED blown up in your face and your buddy next to you falls out of the hatch with metal in hes face and hes asking you what happened has hes face turns red from all the blood and you gotta stand get up in that hatch and take charge of that stryker knowing that seconds later another one can go off and your be down there on the floor. Guess what, I stood up there, why, because its about the guy next to me.I got burned and my head was splitting from that blast but I got up there cause I didn't want to see anyone else get hurt. I did it so you wouldn't have to.

So when the 16th comes around and before you get your supporters ready maybe you should take sometime and look at yourself in the mirror and ask, am I ready to curse out men and women that bleed for me so I wouldn't have to, if you still after knowing that I bleed, my buddy bleed we all bleed for all of you back home and you still want to rally against the Vets and soldiers and families at the wall, then damn you.

To my young Sgt. Thank you sir this is what I pledge to you . 1 you will not have to attend a commanders call and hear your C.O tell you that you should not wear your uniform downtown in your own country and only go to town on the buddy system because it was not safe to be alone and locals knew you were a G.I by your haircut . This will not happen in this country again because two many like myself rember we really had no clue about the politics but we sure learned to trust each outher and we payed close attention to civilens when we were exposed to them. looking back im thinking what a shame how could they feel proud about spitting at us after all most of my buddys were drafted and had no choice but even so served proudly . God bless you young Sgt we will watch out for you here at home.

First off.......thank you and all the military holding down our enemies around the world. I am a Navy mom and I will be there on March 17th with about 50-60 of our group guarding our memorials. You are doing your job elsewhere, we will do ours here for you. RESPECTING our memorials that have been placed for falling vets from past wars. We take pride in these memorials and WILL NOT be defaced by non-believers. All they need to do is watch just how many show up Memorial Weekend to show our support with the Ride to the Wall. I just think having to fight among ourselves about such issues is uncalled for, however not everyone was raised with pride in their hearts as those that will be in D.C on March 17th protecting our memorials from idiots that are also Americans. Where is the logic ????????????

I have for years thought that a Vote for a Democrat was a vote for a commie. If we allow the Democrats, to stay in power, they will nickel and dime away our freedoms, respect, and give this Nation to any group, so long as they can live in the luxury that the American Serviceman fought to give them. These are those who will cause the United States to collapes from the inside. We as Veterans, must once again stand for Our Country, never forgetting that the price of Freedom has been paid for by the blood of men and women who, having saw treachery stood in the gap, that others might live. As a disabled Vietnam Vet, I still remember close friends whno turned their backs on me when I came HOME. I also remember those who fought besides me, and welcomed me HOME with open arms. I love my counrty, it's the government that scarces me. Always PROUD of all our Men and Women and will support all Veterans from every War. I have an Uncle who was a Normandy, and he still remembers the bodies of his buddy that he had to use as a shield. He has his couple of shots every night so he can sleep. I bet "Jane and Cindy" as well as Deke, don't have those problems. I'm sure that they just want their "Names" to go down in History...so that they will always be remembered as the traitors they are, the Benidict Arnolds who, just want to be left alone and enjoy the pleasures of money, regardless of how they get it.
