WASHINGTON, Feb. 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following was released today by the Gathering of Eagles:

When: 9:30 a.m. Thursday, February 22, 2007

Where: The National Press Club First Amendment Lounge 529 14th St., NW, 13th Floor Washington, D.C. 20045

Who: Larry Bailey, Co-Chairman, Gathering of Eagles Ted Shpak, National Legislative Director, Rolling Thunder Jeff Roy, National Junior Vice Commander, Military Order of the Purple Heart

Spokesmen for three veterans organizations which are urging their members to rally in Washington, D.C. on March 17, 2007, to protect the Vietnam Veterans Memorial (The Wall) from antiwar protesters will be holding a press conference at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, February 22, 2007, at the National Press Club to announce their plans to protect The Wall and rally for America's servicemen and women serving in Iraq.

Word has been spreading like wildfire across the country in the veterans' community about the plans of an anti-American group to hold an antiwar rally on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at, according to their announcement, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial (Constitution Gardens.)

The Gathering of Eagles was formed by Vietnam veterans to protect the Vietnam Veterans Memorial from being desecrated as the Capitol was at an antiwar march last month. While there is no way to accurately gauge attendance, it is expected that thousands of veterans, their families and other patriotic Americans will gather that day to protect The Wall and other war memorials. In addition to Rolling Thunder and the Military Order of the Purple Heart, participants in the Gathering of Eagles rally include Move America Forward, which is organizing a cross-country caravan that will bring Gold and Blue Star parents and veterans to the Gathering of Eagles, and FreeRepublic.com.

The Vietnam memorial is one of the greatest monuments for peace that I know of. You are just spreading fear, I've also heard that you threatened violence. What a great way to dishonor the sacrifice those listed on the wall made for this country.

Dear xxxx: The Wall is not a memorial to peace unless you consider the killing of hundreds of thousands of South Vietnamese by the North Vietnamese after the US withdrawal a "peaceful" conclusion. To me, it is a memorial of sacrifice and courage. It is a memorial to the cost of fighting evil. And it is a reminder to many of us who were there that many of the politicians and people back home dishonored us with their cowardice just like they are trying to do to those who are in harm's way today.

It's worth noting that ANSWER, which is organizing this demonstration, is a front group for the Stalinist Workers World Party, which FBI Director Louis Freeh called a "domestic terror group." How is it that thousands of useful idiots from the Left are following the lead of a domestic terror group in a march against the Pentagon, a march that leads directly to the north wall where Al Qaeda struck with a suicide jet on Sep 11?

This WWP/ANSWER march is a follow-on political attack to the Al Qaeda terror attack, both attacks made by terror groups. Both groups have similar goals. Both groups want America to lose the war on terror.

The wall is a monument to peace. The peace we all seek comes at a cost, and that cost wast the sacrifice of each and every person listed on it. It is also a lesson, a lesson that war should be the last resort and should be carefully entered into. In the case of Iraq is was not and now we bring death and destruction on to people most of us will never know, just like we did in Vietnam. Meanwhile everyone who seeks to suppress a constitutionally protected event and spread half-truths and outright lies about a group of people who believe more in freedom than you do. If you believe that the people of Iraq are evil, than in your own heart you are judging someone and we all know what Jesus said about that.

ATTA Boy to the leadership. Since I first learned of this on 2/08, this organization has gone from a single webthread to a national gathering of patriots. Allies keep coming on board, media keeps increasing and Americans are coming out of the woodwork. God Bless us all in this endeavor.

I'm going to do something a good Grunt should NEVER do, and "assume" this person "CLAIMS" to be a Christian. He/she NEEDS to look up Jesus' prophecies concerning "WAR." They can be found in Mt.24:6, Mk.13:7, and Lu. 21:9. So again, I assume this person thinks the Lord was "Wrong" and that they have a better idea. I'll pray for their enlightenment.
