Dear xxxx: The Wall is not a memorial to peace unless you consider the killing of hundreds of thousands of South Vietnamese by the North Vietnamese after the US withdrawal a "peaceful" conclusion. To me, it is a memorial of sacrifice and courage. It is a memorial to the cost of fighting evil. The wall is a monument to peace. The peace we all seek comes at a cost, and that cost wast the sacrifice of each and every person listed on it. It is also a lesson, a lesson that war should be the last resort and should be carefully entered into.
