For reason not preventable I didn't arrive at the Lincoln Memorial until 2:30. I didn't see a single Eagle. Did we not use any banners? Or did you guys all leave before I got there? I know from talking to the head Eagle, we had a huge showing. And, you're right, Rolling Thunder was absolutely awesome.

What struck me was the erie quiet that permeated the crowd of Rolling Thunder and even the tourists until I realized it was actually reverence on everyone's part for the fallen at the wall. I met several several Veterans from past wars. I even met "the" Capt. of the U.S.S.Cole!

Even though I was late, I still enjoyed myself.

My Fellow Eagles,

As I approached the beachead on Saturday, searchiong for my two Vietnam and Veteran GOE I brothers, Bob Mathews and Tim Day, I was blessed to see our tent adjacent to the Mainstand at center stage. To see our banner, "Gathering of Eagles" flanking, "Rolling Thunder", was truly an inspiration of a present day operation as we laid down support fire for the main force of the day.

While waiting to meet with my two brave fellow Eagles, I hiked to "Thunder Alley" and on that hike, I passed hundreds of fellow Vietnam Vets and their motorcycles, reverently displaying our Vietnam Colors and POW flags. My brothers were proudly wearing former rank insignia, branches of service, ribbons, past unit patches and multitudes displayed "In God we Trust."

When we all first got the call approximately 6 weeks prior to 17 May 2007, GOE 1, many Vietnam Vets had been closely guarded inwardly to have permanently tucked our war away within themselves and never to be personally involved again. But when the call began to come forth, as they did 40 plus years ago, they said, "I saw the Red Flare, there is enemy contact, my brothers are in need, and as I did 40 Plus years ago, I am saddling up and I am going to stand a post with them. We came from every small town and Large city, many not really having the funds to get here, and the weather was certainly not the best, but by bus, train, plane, motorcyle, car, or hitchiking, they appeared to stand in the door and hit the ground running, and stand any post asked of them, to protect and defend every brother on the wall and all of the fallen of the other momnuments.

As they passed by, every Vietnam vet, looked deep into the wall and from their deepest chamber of their heart, each to the man, said to every name inscribed:

"We have not forgotten you, Each of you has been in our hearts, We are one together, as we stood and fought together for our Country and our flag 40 plus years ago, please know that we have come together again to stand a post and protect the memorial of each and everyone of you that has fallen before us, and No enemy, foreign or domestic, shall prevail against any monument or memorial honoring any Veteran of our United States of America.

Be rest assured, that we support and stand with your children and grandchildren who are standing a post in harms way, and we are prepared to stand along side them as they come home to the greatest country in the world.

As long as there is a Vietnam Veteran alive, he will hold the guidon High, and he will stand to the death, for our freedom and honor that you upheld for all America forever."

In my opinion, in the history of the world, there has never been a more courageous, cohesive and more caring group of men and women on this earth. We were called the Red Headed Children of our nation, when we came home, and even many Veteran Organizations ostracized us, but we never looked down, we fought with pride for our country, and in my opinion, we won every major battle in that war.

We, nor any of our brothers on the wall, our missing POWS and Missing in action or the acts of love, honor, and bravery will ever be forgotten by anyone of us.

May our country always remember what we did there. Not for us, but for the United States of America, The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.

IN GOD WE TRUST,

God Bless America.

Semper Fi, JIM BREWER

THE TIME HAS COME FOR THIS NATION TO BUILD A NEW WALL IN WASHINGTON DC.

TO HONOR EVERY LAST MILITARY MEMBER WHO HAS DIED TO PROTECT OUR FREEDOM SINCE THE LAST NAME OF A VIETNAM VET WAS PLACED ON OUR WALL.

VIETNAM VETS & THE NATION DEMAND,..NOT ASK,..THEY DO THIS NOW,..STRIP OFF PORK FROM THE WAR FUNDING BILLS THEY FORWARD TO OUR COMMANDER, IN THERE "SUPPORT" OF OUR BRAVE MEN & WOMEN WHO ARE OFFERING UP THERE LIFE FOR OUR FREEDOM.

THIS WALL MUST NOT BE A REUEST,..REATHER A DEMAND.

WHAT SAY YOU MY FELLOW VIETNAM BROTHERS? THIS IS THE VERY LEAST WE CAN DO BEFORE WE FADE AWAY.

IN PEACE, SONS BURY THEIR FATHERS. IN WAR FATHERS BURY THEIR SONS HERODOTUS

DO NOT WAIT FOR LEADERS; DO IT ALONE, PERSON TO PERSON MOTHER TERESA

AMERICA,... OUR SONS & DAUGHTERS ARE WAITING.

TO ALL OF YOU BEAUTIFUL EAGLES: THIS WAS ONE DAY I WILL NEVER FORGET. FOR SO MANY PATRIOTS TO COME TOGETHER AS ONE TO HONOR THE MEMORY & PAY RESPECTS TO OUR FALLEN MILITARY MEN & WOMEN WAS TRULY AN AMAZING SIGHT TO SEE. I HAD A LUMP IN MY THROAT AND TEARS IN MY EYES MANY MANY TIMES THROUGHOUT THE DAY. ALSO A LOT OF JOY AND LAUGHTER, WHICH IS THE WAY IT SHOULD BE.

I missed GOE I, and was lucky to be able to attend GOE II, after Bob Miller from Colorado Springs CO showed me how easy it was. Saturday I took 115 pictures, shooed people away from CSPAN’s view of the stage, met so many wonderful people and heard many of their memories and saw their tears. Filmed 2 movies (battery change) of Kit Jarrell singing "Over There . Watched as her hand trembled, as she reached out to every Eagle and made them cry. On Sunday took 200 pictures many of them had THE MARINE SSgt Tim Chambers in them. He alone would have been worth the trip, the mainstream media needs to pay attention to the things he has done. Talked to Eagles who "Soared in from Australia , and they gave me a shirt just like they wore. They were Vietnam Veterans, and "Mick told me how they were treated after the war. These Vets really do give you the shirts off of their back. They are great Mates to have and many in America do not know what they have done for us. Watched the Rolling Thunder guards standing at ease, who guarded the stage as Paulette Carlson sang "Thank You Vets . The words from her heart sank into their heart. How and each and every one without exception had tears. Talked to one Vet with a stuffed "War Dog , and how 4,000 dogs went and only 200 came back. A big Marine came up and rubbed the dog’s ears while we were talking. The dog is going to be left at the Vietnam Wall this year to get the message out "Where’s My Name . Jim was from NC and the first Vietnam Vet to join the VFW. His float had room and I felt honored to sign it and donate money to the memorial they have created. Wayne who had been to so many of these events his red patchs for each year covered his vest. He said that "his son returned from Iraq and wasn’t hurt too bad . Tania one of our Eagles from Philadelphia who took me under her wing and showed me around. The Korean Memorial, the words "FREEDOM IS NOT FREE , as the central message. I can imagine all Vets who have been buried saying those words in unison at the top of their voice, and thrusting this Black Granite up from the ground to tell us the living what they feel. And, at last the free Smithsonian Museum and Tania told me they have air conditioning and snack bars. All of this and the simple bottom line "Support Our Troops and Their Mission .
