Your 9/12 Mission Can Also Be a Troop Support Mission

Have you made your plans and reservations for 9/12 in DC?

If not, get a move on. Time is short. This is your opportunity to be a player in an historic event.

Support Your Troops While in D.C.

The troop support organization Gathering of Eagles of NC is using this event to promote another very important and on-going mission: Friday Nights at Walter Reed.

For several years the Free Republic folks of DC and Virginia have been demonstrating every Friday night at the gates of Walter Reed Army Hospital in D.C. Filling the sidewalk corners at the intersection with cheering patriots, waving American flags and signs they have provided moral support for the wounded warriors within.
This is especially appreciated since the anti-war group Code Pink also gathers on Friday nights a half block down to protest and belittle the military.

Any mission that draws the Gathering of Eagles to D.C. automatically includes joining the 'freepers' on their patriotic vigil to support the wounded troops and their families.

The weekend of September 11 will be no different. As thousands, perhaps millions, of patriots descend on D.C. for the 9/12 Taxpayers Revolt, the Gathering of Eagles will spend Friday night at the gates of Walter Reed.
You dont have to be a GOE or FR member to participate, you only need to love your country and the soldiers that sacrificed to defend it.

Ah! But this weekend will be a little different. The GOE will go bearing gifts. As is usual, GOE is collecting donations of cash and gifts for the troops at WH.
This effort is being organized by 'Uncle' George Samek of Shallote, NC.
Among the gifts in stock already: shiny new laptop computers with webcams to allow the wounded troops to communicate with friends and family while they recover and heal.

As of this writing, the plan includes four laptops. More could be purchased with sufficient donations.

Of course, computers are not the only gifts being collected. Phone calling cards are also very useful. In the past, when donations were great enough, gifts of cash were given to the families of the wounded to help ease the financial burden of traveling to and staying in D.C. with their healing soldiers.
