WWII. Germany. While taking a small town, my Dads unit was advancing from building to building, crossing alleys and streets, one man at a time, and getting shot at. My Dad rounded the corner of one building, got shot at, slipped in the (he says, but it might have been something else, since he was getting shot at) mud, and went down. The rest of his squad jumped over him and continued to cross the street. He got up and joined them behind the next building. Squad Leader asked if they lost anybody. Dads buddy replies 'Yeah. Swartz got it.' Dad replied 'Did not.' Pats on the back and back to War.
Dad died, July 30,2004. One day before his 59th Wedding Anniversary and 13 days before his 89th Birthday. RIP Dad. I love you! Will see you in Heaven! Your Son, Gary
