Attached is a list of firms known to give discounts to Active Duty Military personnel and Federal employees. These discounts are intended to apply only to Active Duty Personnel, though some will extend to Reserve members. Some Veterans feel this automatically applies to them, but it will only in a few cases. You should ask the merchant before ringing up. In addition I can tell you that both Home Depot and Lowe's currently will give you a 10% discount on purchases if you provide proof of service. That may mean showing more than a ball cap or T-shirt. Each store has the right to determine who is eligible and what they require for proof when it comes to Veterans. As long as their competitor offers this discount, I suspect they both will. I have found that most will accept your VA medical Card if you are entitled to one.

Home Depot here in Michigan requires a photo ID for Veterans. Must be from the VA or another Veterans Organization like DVA.
