The website of "Guardian Eagles" states (in two locations) that its co-founder, Lt. Col. Fred Peterson, was founder of "Gathering of Eagles."
Colonel Peterson had nothing to do with GOE's founding. Its co-founders were COL Harry Riley (first chairman) and CAPT Larry Bailey. In fact, Colonel Peterson's role in GOE is unknown to those most intimately involved in setting up the organization. There were a lot of people who participated in the founding of GOE, but Peterson was not one of them.
He did, however, make an attempt to hijack GOE, but was rebuffed in the attempt. This failure led to his founding of "Guardian Eagles," which is completely unrelated to GOE.
One should draw one's own conclusions about how to deal with Colonel Peterson.
