Its that time of the year again and we are getting out the reminders AND requests for the 3rd Annual Marine LCpl Travis Layfield Memorial Golf Tournament and Fun(d) Raiser sponsored by Eagles Up!.
Please excuse multiple mailings as I'm combing a lot of lists for this mailing. The last request on this page is important. IF you don't golf, it doesn't matter - I own a custom set of clubs and they are a great decoration as my golf score would be great for bowling! If you can't play that day, you could just come for the dinner where we will be honoring some of the Gold Star Families and we are inviting some Wounded Warriors. We will have at least two Medal of Honor Recipients attending MSgt Rick Pittman, Marine, Vietnam and SGM Jon Cavaiani, US Army, Vietnam. If you have the time and don't want to golf, we can use volunteers for all sorts of things - manning holes, escorting cheerleaders or Hooter's Girls, driving relief carts, putting up flags before the event (rebar the nite before), helping to shut down at the end of the event, etc. We need sponsors for a variety of things - such as offsetting the Gold Star Family dinners, the Wounded Warriors dinners, donation of items for the raffles, off set the MoH participant expenses, purchase a commemorative Golf Shirt ( to show your support for the families), general cash donations to offset all expenses, plus everything on the attached tri fold. Every expense covered, every donation, increases what can be used for the Gold Star Reception and Memorial (see attachment). And lastly, please forward this info to everyone you know no matter where they live and see if you can get your employer to email or post on a bulletin board (or donate or sponsor a hole). If you work in the PD or FD, mention to them that the Fremont PD is sending approx 4 foursomes and are challenging the other FD, PD and First Responder departments to see who has the "better" golfers or can offer the most support.
