For two days in September, a team of 28 dedicated runners will run from Cape May, NJ, to Holmdel, NJ. Each mile will be run for a New Jersey Soldier, Sailor, Airman, or Marine killed in Operation IRAQI FREEDOM and OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM. Over the course of two days, team members will mark each mile with an American flag and sign card in an apolitical reflection of remembrance of each service member. The runners will be comprised of active duty and reserve Airmen and Soldiers from McGuire Air Force Base and Fort Dix, NJ. We will also have a 2 mile run/walk open to the public that will start at the Holmdel High School parking lot.
We are seeking sponsors/monetary donations to help offset the cost of event expenses. Again, this event is to raise awareness of the sacrifice of the fallen soldiers from New Jersey and their families. All proceeds for the above event less expenses will be donated to the Gold Star Mother’s National Monument being built in Washington DC. A Gold Star Mother is a mother that has lost a son or daughter while in defense of our country. The American Gold Star Mothers, Inc (www.goldstarmoms.com) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. As a sponsor, your funds will be used to assist with purchasing t-shirts, food, drinks, and miscellaneous items in support of the event. We also have a website (www.njrunforthefallen.org) and a Facebook page (Njrunforthefallen) that will display all of the sponsors that contribute to the event. All major sponsors will be printed on the back of the event t-shirts. Please consider supporting the New Jersey Run for the Fallen and to recognize the family members of the NJ fallen heroes.
