I guess it would be useless to point out to you that, had those in power paid attention back in the late sixties and early seventies to those who opposed the Vietnam war, The Wall that you feel compelled to protect from a threat as imaginary as the WMD's could have been a whole hell of a lot shorter.

Klyde, I guess it would be useless to point out to you that the USA was obligated to come to the aid of SVN because we were (are) members of SEATO. For the uneducated that is the South East Asia Treaty Organization. Of course, because of folks like you our government (read that...the democrates in congress)broke our word and defunded the support for one of our partners in the SEATO organization, leading to the deaths of millions.... Is it no wonder that so many countries do not trust us????

History also tells us that in war Half measures do not work. The war was not lost by the soldiers, it was not lost on the battlefield. It was lost by the politicians tying the hands of the troops on the ground. It was lost because the enemy was allowed safe areas,it was lost because we cut off supplies to our allies and did not go after the enemy in his own country. After Tet the VC pretty much ceased to exist as a cohesive fighting unit. The only reason Tet was seen as a defeat was the media and vocal minority.

Klyde, By your sort of "logic" we could have saved millions of casualties had we jsut let Hitler occupy Europe and cleanse all the Jews without a struggle. And let the Samurais exterminate the Filipinos. When I was in Viet Nam, I worked with a Kit Carson Scout, a former-Viet Cong who had changed sides - there were several thousands of men just like him. Quang, and millions of other Southerners wanted no part of communism. never did see any boat people fleeing Northward, did we. Before, during or afterward. I'm sure I'll see you in Washington on March 17th, with your face painted silly colors and waving a rag puppet as a substitute for factual argument. Or by using weird spellings of comical names. I'm old enough to remember when Lefties may have been assholes and dead wrong, but at least they still knew how to dress like humans.

In answer to the question posed by Rurik at the end of his post, by the grace of God, if the creeks don't rise, I will say on every day following our defense of the Wall that I once again heeded the call to action when my country and my fellow warriors needed me. "I was there," SILENT NO MORE.
To: Redhead Infidel
Ah it always comes down to hitler for you people. Germany declared war on the US and was in fact a threat whereas VietNam neither threatened, attacked or declared war on us.
To: Redhead Infidel
No matter who is the blame for it all Fact is we were there and the Politicians pulled us out before the job was done. The fighting man did not loose in Nam DC did. And as you put it " The Wall that you feel compelled to defend" Well not only do we feel compelled we WILL defend it from people like you. Speak your mind but do not disgrace our Memorial for fallen brothers. Nuff said. Ron Whaley USN/Disabled

klyde why have you chosen to address people on this site? you obviously are not one of them, patriots i mean.
you small minded people who believe war is only like wwii are simply fodder for the islamofacists of the world. crawl back under your rock. To: Redhead Infidel
You know, it always amazes me how people talk about WMD's as being "imaginary!" I guess I look at WMD's a little differently...what do YOU consider WMD's? What would the airliners that the hijackers flew into the World Trade Center be considered? Would they not be considered weapons of mass destruction? They killed thousands of innocent people. Our young men are finding weapons caches in Iraq of a size that would boggle your mind! What did Iraq need them for? To play Tiddly Winks?! What does Iran plan on doing with the bomb they've made? Scares me to think about it. And just recently, airliners were going to be used again - remember London?! I don't want to be in Iraq but I don't want another WTC either. So where do we stop them? I didn't notice any answers in any of your responses...and typically, you people think everything is "imaginary." The WTC was NOT imaginary! And if you think that's all they were going to do - you're living in an "imaginary" world! Al Queda and the Taliban are NOT imaginary! And if they're not stopped, the WTC will look like a walk in the park the next time they strike. If you want to know what WMD's are and if there are any, get off your ass, pick up a gun and go over there! Then you'll know firsthand. If you're one of those people who are "conscientious objectors" who just abhor the idea of a gun being in your hands, then just do what we Marine Moms suggest all the time... "If you don't stand behind our troops, feel free to stand in FRONT of them." It just might save a life...

I just wanted to leave another quick post - and that is, no matter where we stand on the war in Iraq, the most important thing is WE ARE ALL AMERICANS! Pointing the finger, fighting amonst ourselves - NONE of this is going to end the war any sooner...and it won't bring our sons and daughters home any sooner. None of us want war. I haven't met a single person who does! We can all be "armchair quarterbacks" and say "it should have been done this way..." Coulda', woulda', shoulda'! It doesn't matter now...we're there. We need to come together - as Americans - and remember WHO we're fighting - and not between ourselves! Have a good day, ya'll! Try to do something good for someone else today!

Klyde,
While I accept your desire to gain peace by ending the war on terrorism, and all wars, for that matter, because people die. I would suggest that you are responding to your emotions, not the facts. War is hideous, and no one understands that more than warriors. But to traverse from there, to: therefore, the United States should never participate in war, is (to be kind)naive. If peace is indeed your goal, then you must understand that peace results from victory, not withdrawl from an unwanted fight. The Islamist terrorists have made it clear that they do not want us to just withdraw from Iraq. For that matter, they don't want us to surrender, convert to Islam, or even accept slavery at their hands. They want us dead. If you refuse to accept this, you are a fool. In any case, I will not, nor will my brothers and sisters involved with the Gathering of Eagles. It is your right under the 1st Ammendment to assemble and protest, and we will not interfere with that. Should you attempt to use the memorials to our fallen warriors, (who, by the way, died protecting your rights)as a backdrop for your cowardly activities, or to desecrate them in any other way, make no mistake, you will be stopped. I swear this before God, and the spirits of our fallen wariors. James D. LeJeune USMC Ret. To: Redhead Infidel
Amen to that and Semper Fi, Mr. Lejeune! I am a Marine Vietnam Veteran and I WILL be, there along with thousands of my brothers, 3/16 and 3/17 to protect Our Wall! And make no mistake about it: WE WILL BE PREPARED TO PROTECT OUR WALL!!! Any relation to Gen. Lejeune??!!

Kylde, So what have YOU done for your country in your lifetime, huh??? Sit on your azz and let everyone else spoon-feed you so you can spend you worthless life hoping that Red China or North Korea comes knocking at your door and takes all that you have away and locks you up for years for no reason...makes you a slave. We are fighting OVER THERE to keep your butt from running yellow when these fanatics bring it to our shore. So continue to wallow in all that materialism and all the rights that we have in this country because of our veterans. God help our country if we had to depend on people like yourself to defend this great nation. And our nation is not great and FREE because of likes of you. God help you had you been in my foxhole.

Please note, I support the "Gathering of Eagles" and wish I had the means to get there myself to stand with our Vietnam Vets. against the so called people who want our boys to come home...Well, we all want our boys to come home, there is no doubt of that, but as my hubby (Frank) used to tell me "You wouldn't believe what is happening here, and we need to be here to help these innocent people and children! We need to be here to help and if we weren't here fighting, we would be fighting on "Our home front"...So thats why we are here hon, for you and our son, and all the others we need to protect" AND to keep the fighting away from "our home front". Again, I support you all, I keep you in my thoughts and prayers!

I will be happy when the webmaster cleans up this particular forum and removes Kyle the liberal idiot from this site. We fellow Vietnam vets and others who have honorably served this great Country as well as other "good Americans" could better spend our time discussing how we will work together as a united front against those who are bent on protesting against our brave men and women fighting in SW Asia while attempting to defile our priceless Monuments. We could also be discussing how we will be working together as a team to prevent low life scum like Kyle and his kind who are bent on defacing the Vietnam Memorial and other sacred Monuments encompassed within the hallowed ground around the Mall on March 17th. The Cindy Sheehan Jane Fonda led bunch of socialist along with their Muslim Fascist filth must learn the hard lesson that their kind of traitors will not get away with what they were able to do during the Vietnam War. The Silent Majority has awakened and we will be heard. God Bless America, Airborne to my Screaming Eagle brothers and Semper fi to my Marine Corp friends.

Hey Klyde go back and check your history. After Japan's unprovoked attack on the U.S., we declared war on Japan and its Allies. Hence we declared on Germany not the other way around. If you are set to protest what we do go ahead that is your freedom. Just remember that those who are brave enough to stand and fight have been given monuments along the mall, doing anything to those monuments shows how much you do not care for the sacrifice they have made or the freedoms they protected.

I get so upset and discouraged when I hear uneducated and uninformed feminine men like Clyde speak against US efforts to do right and make a stand for the oppressed at home and abroad...or disrespect our President.
Then I'm thankful, secure, and proud when I hear Men like Mr. James D. LeJeune speak out. I'm 47 and I owe my freedom to the service of real Men like Mr. LeJeune. Thank you for my freedom Mr. LeJeune. You are my hero. |
