Mr. Murtha, While I am not one of your constituents, I AM a proud citizen of this great Republic, and as such, I am duty bound to explain myself as I ask you to resign your seat and slink off into the sunset. I am a veteran of Naval service. My service was honorable and I continue in civilian life to reflect honor and dignity upon my service and those who now serve in my wake. You sir have reflected great and disastrous dishonor upon your service, your country, and most heinously, your Corps and its Warriors. You have publicly accused and convicted fellow Marines of horrible and heinous crimes before knowing any of the facts of the incident. You have discredited and dishonored your Corps, its members, its heritage, and its service by your reckless and brazenly political actions. If you have any remnant of honor, any shred left of love for the Marine Corps; you will leave the Congress and seclude yourself in shame and contrition. As a politician, your actions, while disgusting and reprehensible, have come to be accepted as the stock-in-trade for your ilk. As a Marine... ... your actions are intolerable and unforgivable. I have added my name to the growing list of Americans who demand Congressman John Murtha’s immediate resignation. I believe that the damage he has inflicted upon our fighting forces is irreparable. I wish I could trust the people of Pennsylvania to do the right thing and fire Murtha, but they had their chance November of ’06, and they failed miserably. Apparently, pork is more important than honor to the despicably self-involved voters of Pennsylvania’s 12th congressional district. Thus, the patriotic and loyal citizens of other states and districts must join together to rid our nation of the cancer of corruption and dishonor that is embodied in John Murtha.
