ORA Update: Know any patriots in Montana, Wyoming, Arkansas, or S. Dakota?

goemap halfsize.jpg

Greetings! We're now about 2 1/2 weeks away from ORA's target date. Some folks are planning events days (and in at least one case two weeks) in advance, to accommodate the recruiter schedules as well as their own. That's fine! Pizza, baked goods and cards/art from children are still popular selections. We also have unique ideas like free massages, a group picnic/softball game, and the request via a state senator for a national recruiter day in Massachusetts. And check out this nice invitation being sent to six recruiter locations within 50 miles of Hurricane WV!

ORA Invitation (WV)

Up top is a recent map, with another updated version coming very soon. If you have friends or relatives in the few states not yet marked as participating, please take a moment to contact them and ask that they participate in ORA. We are so very close to having all 50 states and D.C. represented!

For those of you who have inquired about GOE banners, they are now available for order here:

http://gatheringofeaglesgear.org/ Look under Categories and select Banners.

Banners are NOT required to take part in ORA, but they are a great way to call attention to your ORA efforts and GOE itself.

If you have not yet informed me of your plans, or still owe me some information, please contact me ASAP. The more people we have involved, the more likely we are to obtain publicity and attract even more participation. Again, the information I need is:

-Your name -Three initials of your choosing to be used to identify you on an image map and/or spreadsheet -Type of recruiter (Service or Services using this office) -Location of recruiter (City, state and ZIP code are sufficient if it’s a sole office; include address if there’s more than one to choose from in a particular zip code) -How you are planning to honor our military recruiters (don’t be shy — gimme details!)

If you'd like help in locating a recruiter, please see the resources on this original ORA thread:

http://gatheringofeagles.org/?p=257

Below is a list (in MS Excel) of current participants, locations, and plans. If you cannot find your name and are planning to participate, please E-mail me ASAP. Also, if you see blanks, question marks, or errors, I would also like to hear from you ASAP so our list is as accurate as possible. Given that we've had no media coverage at all, I think ORA is off to a wonderful start!

public oralist.xls

Finally, whether you're actively participating or not, you can assist us by reaching out to media entities and pro-veteran groups to help us promote ORA and make it an even bigger success. Please take the initiative and spread the word!

Thank you all for caring! Coop -- coopbsure at yahoo dot com

This could be a bit of topic, and I have no idea what ORA is, but don't you think it might be a good idea to get about a 1/2 million vets to gather at the capital to show our displeasure with congress for cutting of funds for the military? I mean the guys are in theatre facing a hostile enemy and these jerks are going to what? cut of the ammo, the food, the vehicle upkeep? If there was ever a time that we old wardogs need to cover our actives backs it is now!

Bman, read the thread and you'll know what ORA is. Concerning a rally for a half million, are you volunteering to coordinate? Please put me down as attending. Thanks.

To say I'm disappointed at the lack of response on this thread would be an understatement.

Hey Coop, I guess the only comment I have to make is that the entire state of VT should be covered on your map. I'm redoing the letter that I sent you earlier. Should have something worked up by the weekend for your approval!

I can't help you out in any of those other states. Sorry!

Eagles? surely someone has contacts in one or more of those states! At least ask them to stop by the office and say thank you! COME ON EAGLES!

Hi Kathy, VT is now covered entirely on my spreadsheet. The map is from a few days ago and is still being updated. Thanks, and keep up the good fight.

Coop, I meet with the VFW leadership on Monday night, 5-7-07, at 7pm to firm up our plans here in Delaware, Ohio. I will update you on our plan on Tuesday. You already have me down for this location (43015). You can use the initials, RAM. The Branches of service covered will be Army, Navy, and Marines. The current idea is to provide pizza and drinks for the Recruiters, and a gathering of supporters out in front of the office from 11-1. Again, I will update you if that is the final plan.

My daughter graduates high school May 19th so I'm indisposed that day but I'll be up in DC again on 5/26 for GOE II. As I was sitting here thinking and read the EXCEL report of events planned for Tennessee (Knoxville, Nashville, and Memphis I believe), I emailed a buddy that's an officer in the local Marine veteran detachment and mentioned Operation Recruiter Appreciation to see if they might be able to muster something up (I should have thought of this sooner). I'll post if I get a positive back from him.

Kathy, so glad you wrote in.

As Coop said, he had VT on his list. The failure was mine. I apologize.

I saw your post as I was preparing to send the next update and thought I should recheck before sending.

I was about to miss it AGAIN!!

My sincere regrets, it has been amended.

I have arranged a Recruiter Appreciation event for Bolivar Missouri. The recruiters working out of this small office will be out of the office on the 19th so I have arranged lunch(a large deli-platter) to be delivered to them. To be safe I talked to them and they are expecting the platter. To mark it on your map Bolivar is about 30-40 miles north of Springfield, MO.

I see some empty states on the map. COME ON GUYS AND GALS LET'S GET GOING!
