Goodbye to a Fallen Hero

GOE members, along with members of Rolling Thunder and MilVets Motorcycle Club, paid their last respects at the funeral service of Army SPC4 Chris Neiberger, killed in Iraq, in Gainesville, FL, on Saturday, August 12th. This was a sad, but uplifting, event. Eagles everywhere express their sympathy with Chris's family and buddies. The best efforts of the Westboro Baptist Church idiots and of Scott Camil of Vietnam Veterans against the War were for naught. One Eagle in attendance, Mike Bradley, said that the church was FILLED with troop supporters.

The lunatics from Westboro Baptist Church are one thing but for ANY veteran to stand with them is simply obsence!

Oppose the war if you will but to add to the pain & suffering of this family is inexcusable. I truly wonder how they sleep at night.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Chris's family. He is a True American Hero.

I'm glad i did not have to witness the vile Scum that protested at his funeral. I really don't think i would have been able to control my actions.

Mike, ....I'm like you. I'm glad I wasn't there. I know I would have lost it and made a bad "choice". This is one of those times when it should be a leagle plea before a judge, "He needed killing!" At the least there is a major shortage of Tar & Feathers. Ed

I will never understand how those who have served their country can act in such a way as what happened at Chris' funeral. Thank God for the Eagles, Rolling Thunder, and other veterans who believe in America and our fighting troops.

A dozen of us that were there Sunday had been to GOE I. You can see some GOE I patches on the front of their vests and the rest of us have our patches on the back. The woman that took this picture so I could be in it, asked us if we were the folks that had been in DC, and when told yes, she thanked us. All the handshakes, thumbs up, smiles, waves and comments from folks thanking us for our presense, tells me that EAGLES need to soar, even on these sad occasions.

Let me add to the article, the police and sheriffs didn't remove the protestors until after we showed up. Although I'm not positive we were the reason they were removed, we had a plan and were prepared to initiate it and we would have relieved them of their vile signs and their desecrated flags. The end result is Eagles/RT/MV's showed up and the protestors dissapeared. Deborah GOE FL Coordinator
