Lodging Update

If you have not reserved a room in Washington, D.C. for GOE II, you need to do so as quickly as possible. Remember, there are going to be all the members of Rolling Thunder in town, Run For the Wall, and other organizations in town for the rally. Don't get left out in Maryland somewhere!

There are not many rooms left in DC, and the rates are going up. Please check the DC Area reservation site (there is another one here) and make your own reservations as soon as possible. We were able to get one block of rooms at the Holiday Inn Georgetown. However, we will not be able to get more blocks, as many hotels for this event have been booked for months for the Rolling Thunder/Run For the Wall rallies.

We don't want to see you be locked out of a room for the weekend, so please take care of this now! See you in D.C.!

Plan on arrival Georgetown Holiday Inn Thursday evening. Friday will spend with local pals, family and buddies. What kind of transportation will be available Staurday to/from the GoE rally? I'm also counting on the Concert Sunday evening and the Wreath laying at the Tomb of the Unknowns Monday, if these are proper schedule days. I'd like to see a Plan of the Day, so I can make arrangements with family there.

Jerry, the D.C. Metro system (trains and buses) is excellent. Unfortunately Georgetown is one of the few places not really covered by the train. It's a short cab or bus ride from there, or a healthy walk. You can check details on buses here: http://www.wmata.com

Jerry:

I booked a room at the Georgetown Holiday Inn as well. They have a free shuttle service within a 1.5 mile radius of the hotel. I plan on taking that with my kids. It says the Hotel is 2 miles from the Vietnam Wall.

For folks looking for a cheap, clean place to stay, this is a family-owned motel just off I-95. Unfortunately they just closed down the restaurant on property, but there's a Wendy's right across the street and the Springfield Mall is only about a mile away.

Hunter Motel & Restaurant 8100 Loisdale Rd Newington, VA 22122 (703) 339-5400

I drive by it all the time. It's a clean property, right next to I-95 (very convenient, but noise could be a factor, if you're a light sleeper), and maybe 5 minutes from the Franconia/Springfield Metro. (And I have no business connection to the place; just trying to help.)
