US military returns control of Anbar to Iraqis

Dear Colleagues,

 You’re not likely to hear much about this on TV today – with wet and wind tussled reporters dominating the news -- but “a major milestone in America's plan to eventually send its troops home” has been reached in Iraq: The U.S. military has handed over control of Anbar province to Iraqi control.

 You’ll recall that Anbar had been under al-Qaeda’s control – so firmly that al-Qaeda declared it an “Islamic emirate” and experts said there was no hope of turning the situation around.

 Gen. Petraeus and his troops did precisely that, working and fighting alongside Iraqis who rejected al-Qaeda’s tyranny -- a message you conveyed to the public when the MSM would not.
