Dear Friends ;
I would like to thank you for your support and participation in the effort to keep continuous shipments of freshly roasted and often , freshly ground 100% Kona coffee going out to our Hawaii based Soldiers , Sailors , Airmen and Marines in 2010 .
This was the 3rd Year of the running of this project .
In 2010 Kona Coffee farmers donated 1089 lbs of Kona coffee .
Also during 2010 GOE project friends and supporters donated $4875 for postage costs and other coffee related supplies and brewing equipment . With $878 still in the HI. GOE acct. for postage and supplies .
Finally , I have to report , we actually might have lost a few boxes in 2010..... A U.S.M.C helicopter squadron contact in AFG failed to report that they were leaving and a shipment of 10 boxes hit their postal cut-off date ( set approx 1 month out from return date- U.S.) He reported receiving 3 or 4 boxes , another 3 or four made it back here , and several remained unaccounted for . The 3 or 4 boxes that made it back to Hawaii were immediately flipped around and sent to the Special Forces folks down in the Philippines. So all was not lost .
During 2010 most Kona coffee went to Afghanistan , where it was very highly welcomed and appreciated . Some also ( as mentioned ) went to the P.I. and now here at the end of the year I am once again sending Kona coffee to the 25th Infantry Division folks who have recently deployed to Camp Liberty , Iraq .
2008 saw 1620 lbs go out 2009 we got up to 1726 lbs . so 2010 is down a bit @ 1089 lbs .
Total sent over the term of the effort so far is 4,435 lbs , in the 3 years.
Over 2 tons .
Right now we have MANY folks still out there , hoping for Kona coffee . To all who have helped with me with this throughout 2010 : THANK YOU !
For any that would like to continue and / or come back into this important effort : PLEASE contact me . As they stay in the fight for us , let us keep up our support for them .
To all of you : God bless you in this New Year of 2011 , and thanks again for helping me do this . We have made history . Kona coffee will be remembered by so many good people who are serving today , for the rest their lives !
Aloha!
Robert
ps: * Special thanks also go out to Heavenly Hawaiian Coffee Co. for sending additional amounts of their great Kona coffee to U.S.A.F units at Bagram AFG , independently of my work . |
