Hello fellow Patriot EAGLES!

As it has been for the last two years, WE are honoring our "First Line of Defense - our Recruiters". Now, more than ever our men and women in uniform are under attack...here at home! As Eagles we need to show our Recruiters that we know they are important and we appreciate them.  So..MAKE YOUR PLANS NOW.  Gathering of Eagles' Operation Recruiter Appreciation "Day" is scheduled for May 11 - 16th.

As before, each area/city will provide some type of unique-hometown recognition for the local recruiters.  It is important to be flexible with the schedules (meet the needs of the recruiters and make it a pleasure for you) and use your imaginations to make it fun for all involved.  Important items to remember:

1)  Make sure the recruiters know who you are.  As Eagles we are Americans who support our troops, the Constitution and America!  A good way to do this is to include a personal, hand written message, a GOE Mission Statement and one of our new brochures (Please contact me if you would like to have some of our beautiful new brochures to hand out - see information below). Also, you might design your own "flyer" that explains our June 13th "Victory" event.  (Read all about it at the GOE website).

2) Contact your local GOE coordinator.  If you do not know your coordinator, contact me and hopefully, I can help. Remember, our focus is to recognize our recruiters...so, please take the initiative and be your self-sufficient self!  YOu may need to be your own coordinator!

3) Generate some ideas (see listing below of suggestions), locate the recruiting station(s) you wish to visit (also coordinate with your local coordinator to avoid duplication) and then send me an e-mail to let me know your plan of action.  (BTW, When you are sending me a message, PLEASE, PLEASE include "ORA" and your City and State in your "Subject" line (Example:  SUBJECT:  ORA, Fort Worth, TEXAS).  Please do this each time you contact me.  This helps me so much as many ORA e-mails come in each day.)

4)  Don't forget to sign your name!!! I know your e-mail addresses but, I don't know you unless you tell me.

5)  Finding the Recruiting Stations in your area:

Go to he sites listed below (at end of message) for help, however, please be informed that many recruiting stations are not always in the "phone book".

6)  CALL the Recruiting Stations BEFORE YOU VISIT!!!!

Make an appointment! With all the trouble some recruiting stations have had with "local insurgents" it is just a good idea to notify the offices of your intent and let them know when you plan to arrive.

7) DON'T FORGET THE PICTURES!

Be sure to take some photos of your group with the recruiters and then send them to me!  I can get them posted on the GOE website for everyone to enjoy.

So...you are off and running...get busy and come up with some great ideas.
Put that good 'ol American imagination to work and come up with something really wonderful.  Reach out to fellow Patriot groups in your area and ask them to help.  Get someone else involved in helping our troops....we are always looking for new EAGLES!

8)  DON'T forget....I hope to see you in Washington on June 13th!!!

God Bless America...home of the FREE because of the BRAVE!

***NEED BROCHURES?  Please send me your snail-mail address and the number of brochures you need.  If you can include some help with the shipping, I would greatly appreciate it...however, I will send them to you anyway!  The brochures are beautiful.  They tell everyone about us and I am so proud to have them available for EAGLES to distribute if they wish.

IDEAS for Recruiter Appreciation Day:

Here are some great ideas - many of them have been used in the past...all winners:

Coffee from Starbucks...and a gift card for the next cup;

Breakfast from a local restaurant or gift cards;

Pizza and drinks for lunch;

Gift Certificates and/or discount cards from local merchants;

Set up a table (with the recruiting office permission) outside the office with signs and a poster for visitors to sign indicating their support for our troops. Have cookies and drinks for along with some hand written banners telling about GOE;

Have your kids and your neighbors help you distribute some homemade cookies/brownies along with handmade cards of thanks to the recruiters;

Make a sign saying "Thank You" and "God Bless America" and have friends leave messages of support on the signs;

Goodie bags filled with good wishes, snacks, gift cards and hand made "greeting" cards; and

This from one of our EAGLES in California:
         COOLING COLLARS!

(Simple Instructions for collars)
Cut 100% cotton muslin  44" long by 5" wide (BEIGE PLEASE.....they
can wear with uniform!)
Fold so fabric is 44" long by 2 1/2" wide
Stitch one end and length of fabric so to make a tube 2" wide
Press the seam open by inserting a yard stick -  this makes it
easier when you turn the tube inside out and does not make a
sharp crease.  I turn the tube by inserting a dowel into the
stitched end and pushing it through (a yard stick will
work too).
Measure 13" from the stitched end and sew across the width of the
collar.
Fill collar with 1 level tablespoon of Soil Moist. (found at any
Gardening Section)
Sew open end of collar.
Turn ends about 1/2 " inside the tube and top stitch.
Measure 13" from this end and stitch across the width of collar
keeping Soil Moist in the middle.
Finished collar measures 43"long by 2" wide.
