The cost for the GOE group rate is $89/night - that's the cheapest we have available right now for rooms with two double beds. There is free wireless internet available. I just looked on the Metro website and come up with these options. Everyone needs to look into this that has wheelchair and other disability issues.

http://www.wmata.com/accessibility/Accessible Transportation Options.pdf

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: MetroAccess trip planning

http://www.wmata.com/Metroaccess/access form.cfm

call (during working hours in day) Call 301-562-5360, press 2 for trip status and then press 2 to speak to a customer service representative Metro offers free orientations to teach people with disabilities how to use bus and rail, along with trip planning assistance, which highlights accessibility and safety features. To arrange for a FREE Metro system orientation or for more information, please contact the Metro Office of ADA Programs at 202-962-1558 or 202-962-2033 (TTY) (during working hours in day).

questions to ask:

1. What is the best way for me to get from the Hotel to train station? 2. What is the closest train station to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial 3. What is the best way for me to get from the Train station to the Memorial. 4. What is the best fare and Where can I buy a pass for the weekend? 5 Do you take dollar bills or just change- also is there a machine that is Accessible for my wheelchair.

and others that you think of

I have two rooms left out of a block of four I secured a month ago; ;-) at the IWO.

Anyone needing lodging, who doesn't mind sharing the room with others Vets, (saves beaghko bucks!) can contact me at Dewey173@Aol.com .

This is the way we do it during Rolling Thunder, it winds up costing us like 15 to 20 bucks a night; that's with four to six to a room.

Spartan!

But everyone gets a shot at the showers, coffee in the morning, and a place to lock up their luggage and to lay their head at night.

The 4 rooms I have usually wind up segrated male and female; we filled two already.

So we do have 2 rooms left on a first come first serve basis for lowbudget vets who need a place to crash.

We flip coins for beds, and we also will have some cots and sleeping bags.

Not a money making venture.

We all share equally the total bill ... with the GOE rates, at say 90 a night, divided by 6 ...

that comes to 15 American $'s a night. ;-) They go fast, so let me know.

Charles Corkran

There are a lot more people there (Comfort Inn, Van Dorn) from GoE. I know that when I made my reservation more than a week ago the gal didn't understand me to well. She had to check with the manager before I got my $69.00 a nite rate.

It does appear that we will be in good company because there will be some RT people there as well as others.

I just made reservations at the Westin Arlington Gateway for Friday, Saturday, AND Sunday. They honored the "Gathering Of Eagles" prices for all three days? The metro goes straight to the Westin from Ronald Reagan for $8.00 every half hour and the metro leaves just a block from the Westin to the National Mall for a $1.80.

The Quality Inn Iwo is booked up for the 16th as of now. I previously made arrangements at the Marriot Gaithersburg. Not cheap $100 or particularly close. However, if anyone is going to be staying there or nearby, please contact me so we can figure out the best way to get to the Mall I will have a rental car . menippe@gmail.com

Mark, otherwise you may want to consider Southwest, Raleigh to Baltimore; I'm seeing @ $230 roundtrip, which should be competitive with fuel. You may also find a special fare, but I'm attaching a link to their Schedule page.

You might also try this hotel across the street from the Dunn Loring Metro Station, west of DC: Courtyard By Marriott Address: 2722 Gallows Rd, Vienna, VA 22180 Phone: (703) 573-9555

Cross the street from the hotel, get on the Metro. The train is a no-brainer because the station only has the Orange Line. Take the train on the right side of the platform. If you take the wrong train on the left side, no worries. There is only one more stop west on the line, Vienna, and the train will bounce back the other way you should have gone anyway, losing fifteen minutes. It's about a thirty minute ride downtown.

Ride the train all the way to Federal Triangle and get off next to the Smithsonian. This is a bit longer to walk but easier to find your way.

If you are feeling adventurous, get off at the Foggy Bottom, walk south down 23rd St to Constitution Ave, cross Constitution and hang a left past the commie rally area, turn 115 degrees right on the far side of Henry Bacon Drive, walk about fifty yards and see the Wall on your left. This is a shorter route, but easier to get lost.
