I was able to go to our local recruiting center in Newton NJ on 5/15. I spoke with Station Commander Staff Sergeant Brian Clark and five of his Army assistants. He told me that GOE brothers helped him out with an incident that happened in CT. (from George Plock in NJ)

I visited them Tuesday, May 13th to hand out fliers inviting them (reminding them) that we are serving them dinner in honor of National Recruiters Day and to please join us in celebration as we honor them. They truly appreciate us , as we have treated them monthly ever since last years National Recruiters Day. (Cookies or something like that). We have gotten to know them quite well. We intend to serve them pizza, desert, and soda. Trisha is bringing her two younger children and I am taking my 15 year old daughter out of school to help. I believe the younger generation needs to learn how to give to those in need and to give back to those who give to them. (Plus the recruiters just love her. They have given her t-shirts, pens, posters, and other gadgets. My daughter loves to help out there too). That's what our day will be like. Your Eagle Comrade and a Soldier's Angel Too, Diana Holthouse, Columbia, MO

I AM ALWAYS GLAD TO DO ANYTHING I CAN TO FURTHER THE CAUSE OF FREEDOM ANYWHERE AND ANYHOW I CAN.....ESPECIALLY WHEN IT MEANS ANY KIND OF ASSISTANCE TO OUR MILITARY HEROES! (Dave Terwelp, Florida)

I signed a large card thanking them for the hard job of being a Recruiter. I took a WW II Pearl Harbor Survivor and the Recruiters presented him with a beautiful Pearl Harbor Survivor US Navy Flag. This is my Uncle Kenneth and his wife Juanita of 62 Years married. He was also a Navy Recruited and a Chief in the Navy. I presented the Office with a 911 Statue music box of the Trade Center Flag Raising for their Office. They were busy and still took time to hug us and say THANKS and they appreciated us thinking about them. (W. Oster, Kentucky)

These guys were just awesome! The Navy recruiters smiled every time they went back to get more to eat and couldn't thank us enough. The Army recruiter just couldn't stop saying how awesome it was and the smile on his face said it all. Terri and I have decided, we have dibs on this recruiting station again next year! (Mary Ann Reitano and Terri Shutts, Syracuse, New York)

Last year, we did a lot better and visited on Saturday at all the same recruiters. We took pictures at the Marine and Army offices and had 3 grandkids with us then. I've learned some lessons from this years event. ALWAYS call the recruiter BEFORE you order up the Pizza, and photo opportunities aren't always there every time. I do have a picture of me, 2 granddaughters, 3 pizzas and a box of brownies (before) we went to the Army recruiter's door, and another picture of us at the door, and I'm trying to peek in to see if anybody was home. Not quite the kind of pictures that I was hoping for. (Dale Lanham, Colorado)

We brought coffee and donuts, a certificate of appreciation for their service as recruiters for each of the military branches there, and a message of our sincere appreciation for their service. Most of them were not familiar with GOE, so we gave them an overview and answered their questions. They were quite interested and thanked us for being there. I met U.S. Army Captain Brian Oertel who is responsible for 60 Recruiting stations in Western Mass. He is a two tour Iraqi vet. His Recruiting Company is soon going to experience a large turnover of personnel and he invited me to come back and talk to his new recruiters next month at a company meeting at Westover ARB. It was a privilege to meet these fine young soldiers, marines, sailors and airmen, and I am confident that our recruiting services are in good hands. (Ron Pobieglo, MA)

I had my cubscouts make some brownies and some chocolate chip cookies for them and we also had some swedish fish and i gave each office a big bucket(360 pieces) of bubble gum for them to enjoy---and like last year they have never heard of recruiter appreciation day---lol----anyhow---they asked me how i heard of this and i explained it was in an email i had received0--so til the next time--enjoy and if u need anything do not hesitate to ask (Jen..location unknown!)

The guys seem to appreciate it. I've taken it a bit further - I don't just do ORA on Armed Forces day. I do Independence Day, Labor Day, around Thanksgiving, around Christmas and around Valentines Day. My boys are used to seeing me every couple of months. (Kit Gaffney, Florida)
