Soapbox Says: May 18th, 2007 at 12:38 pm Hey folks, I’m way off the subject here but you need to know what is going on ASAP!!! The Senate will vote THIS coming monday, The 21st, on the proposed immigration bill. Funny how quick they move when they are trying to put something past the public. Thirty plus years and we still can’t get any straight answers on ou POW/MIAs left in Southeast Asia!!! As I understand it, this bill would in effect allow the 12 million or so who have already entered our country illeagly to stay with few if any restrictions. It would also allow up to 400 thousand additional immigrates to cross the boarder each year along with "several" of their family members. This could easily raise the annual number to well over 2,500,000 !!!!!! Looks like the folks on Capital Hill are once again failing to look at the big picture, listen to the voters and playing games with the numbers yet again. I, personaly, do not believe we can absorb those kind of numbers, I believe we should enforce our laws and protect our boarders. As Ronald Regan said " a nation without boarders is not a nation". Where you stand on the issue is your choice. Just please be informed on the subject before deciding. And please, please must contact your Senator TODAY. You have only a few hours to make this important call. You have time to contact the Oval Office and your Congressperson sometime in the next week or so but the Senate votes on MONDAY !!!!! Thanx

Soapbox you are right on the money! They said yesterday that this was the BEST they could come up with. Well, if thats the best they can do, we need to fire them and get some people on Capitol Hill that can think without worring about VOTES!. The head of homeland security stated today when this is enacted into law the illegals will "be haunted down" and deported. OH YEA! I SEE THAT HAPPENING, ITS JUST ANOTHER LOAD OF CRAP!!! WERE SCREWED!!!

**Amnesty Debate Will Begin Monday: Final Vote By Next Friday (action items below)

Ted Kennedy just announced that the a deal has been struck between The White House, Democrats and Republicans on an amnesty bill.

This behind-closed-doors bill clearly is an amnesty bill. 12 million illegals will gain immediate legal status, rights and benefits -- and a path to citizenship.

Even worse -- this back-room deal means no public debate. The Senate will vote on amnesty by next Friday!

Let's be clear -- they are rushing this through -- without committee deliberations or the normal two to three week time for debate -- in an attempt to avoid public discussion and grassroots pressure.

This is outrageous!

This issue is crazy!!! When did DC go completely nuts? They've always been out of touch, but this????

I got so upset with the "leaders" in DC - and with their arrogance on the amnesty issue, despite the outcry from the American public - that I recently created a web site with anti-amnesty, anti-Congress, pro-fence, and pro-border magnets and bumper stickers.
