A Hero laid to rest

Chief Warrant Officer Matthew G. Kelley, of Carthage, N.Y., and formerly of Osborn, died in a helicopter crash in Iraq on Jan. 26, 2009.

CW2 Kelley served as an Airborne Combat Infantryman in Iraq, after being assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, N.C. Upon his return from Iraq, he applied for Aviation Warrant Officer School, from which he graduated and was assigned as a Kiowa pilot in the Tenth Mountain Division at Fort Drum, N.Y. Late last year, he transferred to Iraq where he flew Kiowas as a member of B Troop, 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division.

CW2 Kelley leaves behind his wife, two children and many other loving family members.
