Planet Earth to President Bush

Hear, See and Speak No EvilThe surge has been completely manned now for only about two weeks. Yet Congress is still out to lunch and in their "don't confuse me with the facts, my mind is made up" mode. Congress has no clue and is working up to totally abandoning the counterjihad. The next few weeks will be crucial on the ground in Iraq and Washington, D.C. We all know that the military side of this conflict is extremely important. However, we are also engaged in a war of ideas; an aspect of the war that President Bush has been all but awol/ua in prosecuting. Andy McCarthy at National Review expresses the frustration with the President's inability or refusal to engage our enemies, both domestic and foreign, on the ideological level. Mr. McCarthy speaks for many with his post.
Planet Earth to President Bush and the Republicans: Al Qaeda — having killed nearly 3000 Americans on 9/11 and promising to do it again — is baking 11-year-old Iraqis and serving them as cannibal fare to their own parents The impediment between these barbarians setting up shop and civilization is OUR TROOPS. Do you think, maybe, there might kinda, sorta be something here we could work with — yknow, assuming, just for arguments sake, of course, that we might possibly want to, um, take on the Left and rebut their insanity before we go along with all this? Do you think maybe if you — repeatedly and convincingly — made clear to Americans what is going on over there, they might think, like, maybe we really do have to kill these savages — whose biggest target is us and who will get bigger and stronger if we leave? Do you think the American people, no matter how unhappy they are with you and how low your approval numbers are, will be content to lose a war to al Qaeda? Is it possible that, instead of filling the media with stories about how your administration is trying to find a way out, we might possibly have you get on TV with some of the pictures Michael Yon has been publishing — and, yknow, like, friggin P-E-R-S-U-A-D-E the American people that our troops are over there for a reason that makes a difference for AMERICAN lives.I cant believe were losing to these guys — in Iraq or Washington. Cant anybody here play this game?

Thanks, George for the email addy. Yes, we all should try to wake up the White House to get off their rhetorical butt and not let the jihadists, Fifth Columnists and Quislings operate freely in the theatre of ideas.

I believe there is one thing that should be mentioned here in defense of the President...

The Dem. Party and the Media have had a constant barrage of negative policies and reporting respectively for the past four years..The majority of the American people have bought in to(brainwashed) the non-stop accusations and outright lies against the many reasons why we went to War in the first place..

The President has spoken many times, maybe not enough for some, what it is the Military is doing and why. It seems every time he holds a press conference on this matter he is crucified on every major news channel within five minutes of leaving the podium..President Bush can't win for losing with these people . Should he have started pushing back harder in the beginning? Maybe so..But i honestly don't think he believed that the majority of Americans would abandon him in one of the most dangerous eras in the history of the Nation

Is there more that we could do politically with our allies in the region? I don't know. None of us know what is really going on behind closed doors concerning this very complicated issue.

I do know that i wish our Country would come together again as we did after 9-11...before another civil war breaks out right here on our own land..

That's all i gotta say about it ..Take it or leave it.

Eagles UUUP!!!

The office of the President has a formidable bully pulpit and Bush should have used it more. I have been frustrated on several occasions when the President has failed to push back on major issues. He is slow to defend his policies and when he does his defense is weak. He has taken this idea of bringing civility back to politics a bit too far. His opponents took off the gloves and he still has refused to defend himself as though his ideas were principled and what the country needed. In this fight over the war you have to be persistent since the public has a short attention span and fails to grasp the consequences of being seen as running away from the Iraq fight. If Bush has a major flaw this is it. As for our allies in the region, other than the British, we are truly alone in this fight. Our armed forces alone due the heavy lifting. We will sink or swim on our own.

The public opinion is driven by the MSM, the truth is banned. Just look at the state-controlled media in Germany and their affiliates in the United States (i.e. NYT). There are three things they have in common. They're socialists, they're supporting terrorists, and they are dreaming of a socialist global governance!

Listen what the President has to say! BANNED Pres. Bush Interview Good job, Mr. President! You're the man! God bless you!

I owe the United States military men and women my freedom and I will never forget! United States soldiers are always welcomed in my house and if I have to lay down my life to save the life of a United States soldier, I will do! God bless them all!

Okay you guys, let's have some fun! Taliban on the Run

God bless America, the greatest nation ever!

Two points-- one, it's not just the British; we seem to be getting good support from the Australians too. They also have forces in the field, and at least one Aussie brought their country's flag to stand with us at GOE I. Though yes, I do wish the support were a little more widespread! Two-- I don't mean to be gruesome, but I read the Michael Yon article 3 times and never found a mention of the "cannibalism" story-- though I've seen it referenced in many other places on the Web. Can anyone send a link to the article that actually DOES contain it? (It is NOT in the post entitled "Bless the Beasts and Children, at least not that I was able to find.) The very awful nature of this story means that we need to be able to verify it absolutely if we're going to quote it. Sorry to be a stickler for form-- too much research background, y'know.

MikeB & Longhunter

Short attention span & a short memory. It was not that long ago that Americans were leaping to their death as the offices where they worked burned around them. Men, women and children who made the mistake of going about their mundane lives on Sept. 11th.

Those on the "other side of the street" would have us believe this was a one time incident, or that we caused or, at the very least are to blame, for that terrible day. Hell some honestly believe that our own government brought these events together as an excuse to go to war. How very cynical and how very very sad.

What I can not for the life of me figure out is how we got to this place. An unemployment rate under 5 , a booming stock market and economy, home ownership at all time highs and yes, over 80 of the American public covered by some type of health care program yet the hate / blame America crowd still can find nothing positve to say about our country let alone our President. I can not understand what is happening and no one can seem to explain. Even "they" can't or won't tell me where the hate comes from!

Seems the "other side of the street" wants everything handed to them. I hear it in there chants of "free money for school" etc. What ever happened to working for / earning something? The first 6 years of my married life were spent paying off the loans the Princess had taken out to attend nursing school. Note I said SHE took out not her parents. It was a struggle but we did it, not the government not our families not a "village" she & I.

I truly believe that two well meaning ideas have caused us what may prove to be irreparable damage. First politcal correctness. Damn you can't even have an honest debate anymore without be called a homophobe or a racist or fascist or one of a dozen other "things." It is easier to be PC than to stand for what you truly believe so too often we keep our mouths shut rather than risk being looked at as an a$$hole. And where did PC get it's start? Well I think it happened when we started giving everybody on the team a trophy because there can't be one MVP. We stopped keeping score because it will hurt little Bobby's feelings if he "looses." Even this very morning The news talked of a little girl who's parents may sue the school because she did not make the JV cheer squad and the school refused to expand the team from 6 to 7 to "make her feel better." You win some and you loose some but what happened to takeing pride in trying and doing your very best !

Was life not better when mom greeted you at the door upon your arrival from school? Was life not better when children were raised with their parents values as opposed to those of some surrogate. Was life not better when we could share our concerns about our country without jumping head long into name calling. Because I may be concerned about immigration should not instantly brand me as a racist any more than telling someone they have a cute child makes me a pedophile! Bit strong but now you see my point!

I am sorry for the ranting and rambling but sometimes things just must come out. I sometimes wonder if our parents or grandparents would even know America if they saw her today. I am so very affraid for our country and it is here where I come to find strengh. I don't think I overstate it when I say many of us are really not aware of what awaits us just around the corner. I pray each night that I am wrong but I also pray May God have mercy on us if we are not successful both in Iraq and here at home.

That's right --- Give Al Qaeda a free pass, forgive congress for not knowing what to do when the country is at war. Bush is the leader, let's gang up on him he has already demonstrated how well he can handle criticism.

Folks this is serious Politics we are playing here. The war is getting in the way of pork-barrel earmarks for crying out loud.

/moonbattery off

The Commander in Chief, could use a little help here Eagles.

When you Support the Troops AND their Mission, you do not undermine their mission as others are trying their best to do. Beware of articles like this that will lure you over to the dark side. Ask yourself "What have I done today to help our troops and their mission?" Picking on the President does not help anyone, instead it gives hope to those who would do us harm.

Eagles UP!

We did not quote the story about the "cannibalism" story. McCarthy who wrote the original post for the National Review Online ALLUDED to it. That section of our post here is clearly in blockquotes meaning it is a quote from another source. The part of the post with the link applied to it takes readers to what it referred to: Photos published by Michael Yon of al Queda atrocities. Here is the link to the Michael Yon article which briefly mentions how he heard about the al Queda cannabalism atrocity. http://michaelyon-online.com/wp/baqubah-update-05-july-2007.htm How is pointing out to Bush where he can support the troops better picking on the Commander-in-Chief? He is not exempt from criticism. Bush failed to make the case strongly and keep making the case strongly to persuade the American people. He did not learn the lessons of the 60s with the anti-war Left and the demonstrations in the streets. He did not make the case that this war was going to take sacrifices all around and take a really long to time to prosecute. He has also hurt the war on the home front by parrotting the "Islam is a religion of peace" nonsense. Bush is not perfect but that doesn't mean we should not point out to him where he can support the troops much better than in the past. If this war is so important to our national security he ought to be acting more like it is.

GermanVoice and Longhunter, thank you for providing the link.

Longhunter, I apologize for not being clearer with my statement. I did understand that the block quotes meant the reference was McCarthy's and not ours. However, that atrocity is the kind that tends to stick in the mind and get repeated when we get into heated arguments. I just wanted to be sure that we had our source ready for when some deny-er pooh-poohs our concerns. Again, sorry I didn't clarify-- I was multitasking at the time.

MikeBSuffolk Said, Ref Item 4.

Well said my friend. I know that while President Bush has disappointed some us at different times on different issues, especially the Amnesty issue, I do believe that our President has the best interest of America at heart and most importantly supports our military, at least on the front lines. I have to admire his tenancity and ability to stand up under the all the pressure that the liberal left, moonbats, and democrats in Congress have been pounding him with almost daily for the last four years with the help of a hostile media. I have to give him credit for that much.
